TVI is a measure of how much darker a color appears after
printing compared to its digital value. It is computed using
density measurement, and for each ink color, three measurements
are necessary :- 1) the paper density, 2) the Solid (100%) ink
density, and 3) the density of the patch being measured.
Typically a 50% patch is measured, and the measured tone % is
subtracted from 50% to compute the Tone Value Increase.
ColorMeter will first ask for the paper to be measured, and the
resulting measurement should be saved to the White Register.
It will next ask for an ink color Solid value to be measured, and
after measuring, this should be saved to the appropriate Cyan,
Magenta, Yellow or Black Register.
ColorMeter automatically detect the ink color being measured, and
will display the TVI.
By default Status E (DIN) standard paper relative density measurement is used, consistent with ISO 12647-1, and a 50% patch is assumed.
